On a recent visit to Madrid we took the opportunity to visit El Rastro, known for is famous Sunday Flea Market but also its array of wonderful antique and furniture shops. We decided to visit on the Saturday to miss the crowds that gather for the flea market as we wanted to focus on the furniture shops and not get too distracted.
My advice would be to head to Calle de la Ribera de Curtidores and go from there.

You could literally spend all day trawling the stores and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to pass the day except for maybe a visit to the local tapas bars which of course we had to do once lunch time came around. We focused on just a small area and spent some time on Calle de la Ribera de Curtidore.
Galerias Piquer is a wonderful little arcade with various dealers and plenty to offer for all tastes. My advice would be to make a day of it and don’t rush there is so much to discover.
Happy hunting!
